ALL Things Are Yours

1 Corinthians 3:21-23 (NIV)
21 So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours,
22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours,
23 and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

Romans 3:21-22 (NIV)
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,

It shows us how crooked we are.

Newness of God’s word in Christ - WITH Continuity of God’s work in Old Testament times
(Same yesterday, today, and forever)

FAITH - the Means through which it (God’s Righteousness) is given
- Initial Faith (at Salvation) - His Righteousness
- Ongoing Faith (in Sanctification) - Our Righteousness

Faith in What?
What God HAS DONE

CONFUSION - between God’s Righteousness and Our Righteousnes

Some - grace as license
Others - tightrope
both are unbiblical
Half Truths = Most Dangerous

We will be judged worthy of Heaven or Hell based on whether we accepted Christ’s Payment for sin.  We will be judged worthy of reward or “escaping thru the flames” based on our Righteousness.

He wants FREEDOM and FRUITFULNESS FOR US!!

UNLESS WE KNOW and UNDERSTAND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WE WILL NEVER WALK IN OUR OWN

Living in Personal Holiness Allows us to REIGN in LIFE

How Much MORE will those who receive the overflow of grace and the GIFT of (God’s) righteousness reign in life through the one Man Jesus Christ

Romans 5:17 (NIV)
17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

RECAP
- God’s Righteousness Earned APART from the Law
- Flows to us thru channel of our Faith
- Faith in what Jesus HAS done
- Delineation between God’s Righteousness & Our Righteousness
- Can’t do “ours” without revelation of “His”
- Personal holiness and wisdom makes us "reign in life"

Romans 6:10-13 (NIV)
10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

Death to Sin - Once
Death to Self - Every Day
Sanctification = WHY WE NEED THE CHURCH
