Cycle of Pain – Part 1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5.1

Cycle of Pain

Heart wounds lead to us making agreements or lies that are set up against the knowledge of God and knowing him intimately.  This leads to an open door of sin.  If we continue in our sin, darkness and addiction will develop. As we stay in this addiction, the demonic comes to attach itself to our wounds, and strongholds to keep us trapped.

(See Scriptures on Cycle of Pain Diagram)

Our hearts are created for love and intimacy.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 4.20
16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.

1 John 4.16-19
Love Wounds are emotional hurts that happen deep inside of us. They are not physically visible, and they can be tricky to name because we keep them hidden. But they are seen outwardly by the symptoms or negative fruit that we demonstrate in our lives and relationships.

“If you have the fruit you’ve got the root.” Jack Frost

Hope and Promise of Healing in the Word

For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”

Jeremiah 31.25
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147.3
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners

Isaiah 61.1

Promises from the Scriptures Regarding our Hearts

Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:26
