I Love to be Loved by You
The sweetest voice, the softest touch
You are the King I love so much
And should it be that I should wander
I know my Shepherd wont be long
In pulling me back with His gentle discipline
How can we fathom such a God, a Father?
The amount of times I sit and wonder
You are a God of passion and righteous anger
Justice and unapproachable might
Though you are all these things,
You do it all in Your mercy, Your grace
Your kindness and goodness
But the true mystery I cannot explain
Is the mystery of Your love
I can’t understand, I can’t comprehend
The breadth, the length, the height, the depth
Nothing can separate
No one can take away
This love that was given to man.
I want to be loved by You, but I am unworthy
I want to be near to You, but I’m undeserving
Still you draw nearer and nearer.
Then you say, “Child, you were unworthy,
You were undeserving, but I love to be loved by you.
I sent down from Heaven my Son to sever the space between us
The curtain is torn, the veil is lifted
Jesus’ body, pierced and afflicted
Bled out His blood to cleanse your stains.
So you could be worthy, you could be deserving of my love
I love you, but more than that
I love to be loved by you
