Faith is essential
Christ’s life is the template
Impossible to please God without faith

Hebrews 10:38 (NIV)
38 And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Anything outside faith is sin 
Romans 14:23 (NIV)
23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

Point of origin = Gods Word 
Romans 10:17 (NIV)
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

Hearing = active obedience

Logos - Constant, written word. A record of God speaking His purposes
Rhema - Instant, present spoken word. Gods living voice today. (Often Logos) 

John 6:63 (NIV)
63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

When we actively receive His words, we exercise our spirit man

The word of God produces a spiritual people
