Picking up where he ended last week, Jonathan continues teaching about doing God’s will, but with discernment and the knowledge of the Holy One at the core.  Matthew 7 offers a sobering teaching from Jesus, reminding us that practicing gifts, exorcising demons and working miracles do not gain us entrance into the Kingdom of heaven.  Rather, knowing Jesus is what matters most.  First things First!  He finishes by sharing from his heart about the coming fulfillment of Jesus’ John 17 prayer for church unity!

Notes

Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

What do you want more?
- manifestations
- knowledge of the Holy One

How do we Know God?

Proverbs 2:1-5 (NIV)
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

- Life in the Word
- Life of Intercession
- Life of Pursuit

Focus on gifts - the childlike/immature way (outward)
Focus on love - the mature way (inward)

Spiritual gifts are all a temporary means of operation (dispensational) Love is eternal - the expression of God as life
