Starting from Mark 1, Jonathan teaches into the authority (power) Jesus won back for us. The first demonstration of His authority was commanding the enemy to shut up! Psalms 115 says mankind was legally given rule & reign over the earth but then signed over the “lease” to Satan in the garden. Colossians 2 tells us what Jesus legally accomplished in the heavenly realms so that we might again rule on the earth in Him. Finishing from an excerpt of “Sit, Walk, Stand” by Watchman Nee, we are reminded: we fight from the place of victory, not for victory!

Notes

Mark 1:22-27 (NIV)
22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,
24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”
26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”

Authority is Given

Psalms 115:16 (NIV)
16 The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind.

Man was legally given Rule & Reign
Man legally gave Rule & Reign away to Satan

- The prince of this World. (John 12, 14, 16)
- The god of this age. (2 Corinthians 4)
- The ruler of the kingdom of the air. (Ephesians 2)
- The spirit at work in the disobedient

Colossians 2:13-15 (NIV)
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

We must not assign to the Devil the responsibility of blame for the troubles that have come upon us as a result of our own breach of divine laws.
