The Lord is our light and salvation! Of whom shall we be afraid? Jonathan begins with a primer about abiding the protection of the Lord’s house. From within these walls, we can rest confident and secure even when ‘an army besieges me’.
Starting from his previous sermon on placing our hope in God alone, Jonathan teaches through the “template of hopelessness” God has designed for disciples. The Scriptures are replete with stories of God’s children “coming to the end of themselves“ that they might learn to trust in God alone and walk by faith not sight. These type of people overthrow kingdoms and destroy the works of Satan. Finishing in Psalm 20, we see that we pray from the place of a victory already won!
Jesse Allen teaches on The Inheritance of Christ and his Bride: a people positioned to freely receive from God and fully give to God all He is worthy of.
Doc Kuhns teaches about how the Passover and the Song of Songs relate to communion. Beginning with an original poem, and then reading from Solomon’s poem, he demonstrates the proof of God’s unfailing love for His bride - His broken body and shed blood.
Christ’s resurrection accomplished hope for us! According to Psalm 42, hope is the issue at hand when our soul is downcast. Properly placed hope ("happy certainty") in Christ Jesus is essential. Jonathan begins teaching in Luke 24 about the how the disciples on the road to Emmaus went from disappointment due to hoping in what they could see to “all joy and peace in believing” by hoping in the Risen One! Romans 5 shows the progression of disciples being changed into Christ’s likeness: Suffering - Perseverance - Character - Hope. "Get Your Hopes Up" (literally)!! The morning finishes with the church singing ‘Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken’.
With the third, unexpected “wall word” of the morning, Brian shares a heartfelt teaching about the need to building up - not tear down - the walls in the body of Christ. Instead of impurity ruining the building of the Lord, may we give ourselves to holy living and seeking His face!
Doc Kuhns shares a reminder about the benefits of spoken prayer. Although silent prayer is useful and needed, the spoken word has power - especially in the place of intercession! The book of James reminds us there is power in the tongue. Doc finishes with an original poem called “According to the Word.”
Matt gives a short report on his time in Africa this past 10 days, and shares some incredible news of fruitfulness from our brothers and sisters there!
Brian shares from his heart about the process of heart-transformation that takes place during suffering. In this world we WILL have trouble, but Christ has overcome! After the sifting, comes the strengthening of the church! He then invites Jeb and Charla (visiting from Nebraska) to share their recent story of deliverance from death and strengthening of faith.
